Interchangeable thunderbolts and a best selling
IPA is what Cape Town’s loudest craft beer is all about.

From Cape Town, South Africa, Riot Beer is a forward-thinking, progressive brand producing craft beer for those who dare to be different. Their Brewery in Woodstock, Cape Town, isn’t just a stopover for your run-of-the-mill Friday beer; it’s a wake-me-up-before-you-go-go party for the weekend, stand-out-from-the-crowd, beer for the pallet thrill-seekers. The Riot guys are using the refurbished industrial space to showcase their craft beers, with their best seller Session lager-ale hybrid, or their Valve IPA. I drew inspiration from their bottle label illustrations and borrowed some De Stijl/Mondrian nostalgia making a statement with a red, yellow, and black palette. The Riot logo uses interchangeable thunderbolt icons that represent key parts of the brand, including symbols of independence. Riot engaged me to develop their online presence and elevate the UI/UX of their digital platform.

I collaborated with photographer Ross Nortier on the product and venue shoot. Ross’s photography for product stills is excellent – his photography of the RIOT Beer bottles was wonderful to work with and of this highest quality to use on the RIOT Beer website design and print materials.

I love this brand so much that I even gave them a cheeky T-Shirt design to use if they needed some merchandise.
